My guide Jon told me several times that I am lacking the experience for attempting the Everest climb but he is willing to put me to some tests to see if I have any real shot at it. This thought helped me push harder during training because I felt I needed to compensate for my lack of experience. Somehow like starting a marathon half an hour later than the group and trying to run faster and faster, at least to catch up with the slowest runner.
With little idea of winter ascents, with my heart in my mouth, I am heading to Colorado to find out if my dream is for real or just a chimera. All this is very new for me but the thought that I am going to spend time in the mountains makes me very happy.
